The biggest event to be hosted in Central for 2023 kicks off today in Whanganui. A field of 120 top Juniors from throughout the North Island have arrived to compete.
Whanganui's Matthew Ratcliffe fought off rising star Brodie Bennett of Tararua in a hard 4 setter to take the 2023 Central Open Mens title for the first time in his squash career. Meanwhile Eastern youngster Kiera Thompson took out the women's title over Ohakune's talented Grace Burnard.
After some massive battles and close games through the day Central beat Waikato 14-10 in their annual representative fixture to take the Leevey Shield!
