Women's Series Wraps Up for 2024

49 women took part in the 5 round tournament series with competitors coming from as far as Wellington and Masterton to compete.

The E grade and below ladies series has come to an end after four rounds of one day tournaments. The series kicked off in March at Feilding Squash Club, followed by one day events at Hawera Squash Club, Whanganui Squash Club and finishing on August 18th at Levin Squash Club.

Over the series 48 ladies played in either one, two, three, or all four one dayers, including nine ungraded ladies, one of which who entered the final round as a competitive Squash player. As usual the games were competitive but the friendly and fun atmosphere off the court has continued to make this series a fun day to be a part of.  We even had a graded player try play ungraded with her non-dominant hand to help make the draws work, no one likes a 5 draw for a one day event.

This year saw players entering from Wellington, Masterton and throughout the Central District. The last round saw a number of pull outs due to injury and illness which is part of Squash life but the bad weather and closed roads didn’t stop a number of players getting to the final day. Thank you for the committment ladies.

Anna Dellow from Feilding and Jo Lawrence from Masteron took away the backpacks for playing all 4 rounds. As usual some players had to drop away due to a rise on the grading list and it is great to see the improvement in players over the series.

A special thanks to Feilding, Hawera, Whanganui and Levin Squash Clubs for hosting this series. All of you provided a friendly and welcoming environment for our new and lower graded ladies to enjoy the competitive side of Squash. Without your willingness to open your doors on a Sunday this series would not be possible.  Also a big thanks to Prince for sponsoring some sweet prizes for the ladies.

See you all in 2025
