Central had 5 players competing at the New Zealand Champs in Tauranga. The event has been modified in recent years to be only the top 32 men and 32 women to compete. Our two highest placings went to Chris van der Salm of Whanganui who took out 4th in the Men's and Kaitlyn Watts of Palmerston North who also took 4th in the women's but was unable to play her final match due to injury.
Other performers were Allan Bailey of New Plymouth taking out 11th place after being the crowd favourite taking the court against world No 2 Paul Coll. Anabel Romero of Palmerston North took 16th place over Abbie Holmes of New Plymouth. A big congratulations to these 5 for representing themselves and Central so well at this event.
